Depicting a fragment of compact bone about the size of a pinhead magnified approximately 500 times, this hand-painted model shows one complete haversian system and a portion of two others in cross-section. Lamellae are cut away at various depths in step-wise fashion.
Magnified 80 times, this three-dimensional section of the lamellar bone shows the typical structure of a tubular bone. The model illustrates various planes in cross and longitudinal sections through all levels of the bone, and also contains a two-plane section through the inner structure of the bone marrow. The typical elements of the lamellar bones are easy to identify and aid in
understanding the structure and function of the Haversion systems.
The individual bone components, including spongy and compact substance, endosteum, cortical substance, osteocytes, Volkmann, and Haversian
canals, are all displayed. Supplied with base.
