Atherosclerosis Model with Cross Section of Artery
This model provides an excellent visual explanation of the changes in blood vessels due to arteriosclerosis. It contains a horizontally dissected artery fork with arteriosclerotic changes in four different stages, ranging from slightly sedimented to a completely clogged vessel.

Cardiopulmonary System (Heart and Respiratory Organs)
Fully three-dimensional and mounted on a hardwood base, this life-size unbreakable plastic model includes lungs, trachea, heart, esophagus, and complete larynx with vocal cords, all in their natural position. The right half of the larynx can be removed, as well as the heart and half of the left lung, which exposes the bifurcation off the trachea and bronchial tree, the pulmonary arteries and veins. The heart itself splits in halves to show its four chambers and valves, thus providing understanding of the directional blood flow there. Pulmonary circulation can also be easily traced, and with major vessels of the systemic circulation depicted, blood flow through the entire body can be demonstrated. 58 numbered structures are identified in the corresponding key.

Giant Heart with Pericardium and Diaphragm
Its large size making it ideal for group study, this heart separates into two parts, making it easy to trace blood flow through the chambers, valves and vessels. 59 features are number coded and identified in an accompanying key including: the coronary arteries, circumflex artery, coronary veins and coronary sinus, segments of the esophagus and trachea, lower portion of the pericardium, diaphragm section, flexible tricuspid valve, pulmonary valve, mitral valve and aortic valve.

Heart with Major Blood Vessels
Vividly colored, this enlarged model of the heart and major blood vessels is made from a flexible material with openings to represent the ventricles and atria. The anterior wall is removable to expose the pumping chambers. In addition to the aortic arch, the brachiocephalic trunk, superior vena cava, pulmonary valve, subclavian, and common carotid can be seen. Displayed on stand.

MICROanatomy™ of Artery and Vein
Illustrating the reciprocal anatomical relationship between the artery and vein, as well as the basic functions of the venous valves, this model, magnified 14 times, contains a medium-size muscular artery with two adjacent veins from the antebrachial area, along with adjoining fat tissue and muscle. The left vein and middle artery lie in the upper anterior segment to show the layers of the wall structure from cross and longitudinal sections, as well as from a top view. The right vein is opened in the anterior segment to reveal the orifice of the feeder vein and two venous valves. The back of the model has a relief of two veins, and depicts the venous valves’ functions.

The Helicalheart™
For over 500 years, the heart was thought to have a helical structure. However, it was not until Dr. F. Torrent-Guasp used hand dissection to successfully unwind the rope-like “Gordian Knot” that defining the structure in this configuration has been possible. Scrolling it back into this helical arrangement illustrates a transverse basal loop and an oblique apical loop with a “figure-8” shape that forms a helix with a conical apex. The helical shape enables the twisting and untwisting of the heart muscles, which allows for blood ejection, and suction for cardiac filling for the next heart beat. The power and strength of the heart lies in its simplicity of shape. This simplicity is disrupted when the conical heart becomes spherical, and thus can no longer effectively wind and unwind. This disruption causes the enlarged heart of patients with congestive heart failure, the world’s leading cause of death. This revolutionary discovery in cardiac anatomy is illustrated through the HelicalHeart model. Life-size, it can be unfolded and refolded in order to demonstrate the origin and end of the human heart muscle.
